Planned resilient floor maintenance is the best way to keep your hard floors looking good throughout their life and exceed manufacturer warranty periods.  Most resilient flooring rarely wears out,  it is usually replaced prematurely on aesthetics due to a lack of,  or incorrect cleaning sealing and maintenance.  For example resilient safety floors generally only look clean on the day they are laid,  the moment they are used and subsequently cleaned they start to look dull and grubby,  this can be avoided with appropriate cleaning products and techniques.  Not all hard floors are the same.

Resilient floor maintenance starts from the day a floor is laid,  when the building contractors carry out the hand-over clean or seal and polish,  the floors should be professionally cleaned and sealed if required.  A quick wipe over with an old mop and bucket  of  any cleaning agent that comes to hand can damage a resilient floor even before it is handed over to the client,  this especially applies to linoleum.

Correct cleaning equipment and chemicals should be specified for use by in-house or the sub-contracted daily cleaning company,  generally microfibre flat mops will suit the brief and remove the damaging dry gritty soil that can prematurely age a floor and result in surface scratching and damage.  Combine this type of mopping system with a cleaning agent that will clean the floor and maintain its ionic balance ensuring it does not hold onto soiling or attract dirt to itself.  This applies whether the floor is sealed with a polish or sealer or has a PU coating protecting the actual.

Contract Maintenance Group look at the whole picture and consider the demands of each installation taking into account, traffic (type and volume) image (whether front of house or back office),  budget available and access with regards to cleaning of the floor surface with little or no down-time. CMG can provide all the training and equipment for single site cleaning by in-house personnel such as a caretaker in a school, ensuring simple to use and effective resilient floor cleaning methodology.  CMG will also provide scheduled planned maintenance for any size of site from a national retail multi-site contract or large single sites such as a warehouse or storage complexes.

Whether cleaning a high street store during opening hours or office block overnight,  our approach is the same.  Agree an appropriate time,  plan how each clean is conducted to cause little or no disruption to staff or clients,  liaise with on site staff and once the scheduled clean is complete obtain signed satisfaction report prior to invoicing.

Maintenance can be any frequency from weekly for a flagship retail store in a busy high street to six monthly visits for a coffee break out area in an office environment with careful staff and no public profile to maintain.  Invariably most of our hard floor maintenance contracts use No Skidding Electrolytic Cleaning Products and Microfibre Systems for guaranteed results and no hazardous wet floors.

Planned resilient floor maintenance will protect the investment made in hard flooring,  deliver a clean sharp image to staff and clients,  ensure a safe working environment and extend the life of the lino or vinyl  preventing the added pollution caused by dumping of old vinyl into landfill.
