What is Dry Carpet Cleaning?
As the leading National Dry Carpet Cleaning & Carpet Maintenance Company in the UK, CMG has the most in-depth insight into the systems and green benefits of dry carpet cleaning services.
CMG use and promote two dry carpet cleaning systems, both available worldwide; envirodri® and HOST®. Both use natural, green, environmentally friendly and stable base carriers. As disposal of the cleaner after use is an important environmental issue, both are 100% biodegradable and contain only safe cleaning chemicals.
Why should I call CMG today?
- Nationwide coverage from regional offices
- Endorsed by leading carpet manufacturers
- Green Seal approved products
- Immediate use of floor space, no down time
- Two million+ square metres maintained annually
What are the benefits of using a Dry Carpet Cleaning System?
As both the HOST® and envirodri® Systems are dry processes, you can walk on the carpet immediately after or even during cleaning – meaning no downtime and no ‘locked-off areas, while the carpets are drying. CMG cleans high-street stores during trading hours. Hotels, nursing homes and common parts areas such as lifts, lift lobbies and access corridors or stairs to commercial office buildings are also cleaned during normal working hours. This ‘dry carpet cleaning’ service removes the need for staff to stay late or open their sites at weekends, it offers a more civilised and flexible approach to the problem of dirty carpets.
What Makes CMG Different?
Our service is endorsed by some the largest and most important flooring and carpet manufacturers in the UK. These producers ‘trust’ CMG to use our extensive knowledge to restore or maintain their particular brands.
CMG is different from the majority of carpet cleaning companies because we are not allied to any one type or method of carpet cleaning. We will always use the most appropriate system for the individual carpet specification, client requirement or soiling level and type.
Other companies often use ‘whatever’ method is available to them, those methods that they are ‘tied’ into or those they can afford... Less costly equipment aimed at the purely domestic market will not produce the results required in the commercial carpet care sector.
The carpet manufacturing industry recognises both envirodri® and HOST® as the systems of choice when discussing either ‘one-off’ carpet cleaning or planned carpet maintenance programmes and each has its supporters. As CMG are Service Partners to this industry, we embrace the two and will use the preferred system as dictated by the particular carpet manufacturer.
How do the HOST® and envirodri® Systems Work?
Both the HOST® Liberator® & Freestyle® and envirodri® ‘Gen4’ machines have large, counter-rotating brushes which groom the carpet pile and release deeply embedded loose grit, sand and soils from the base of the carpet. These allow a thorough dry vacuuming of the carpet.
- The HOST® Liberator® has the addition of powerful cyclonic vacuum technology to remove the dry ‘gritty’ soil that becomes trapped in carpet in one action.
- All these machines revive the pile putting the life back into crushed fibres.
- They also deep clean the carpet and remove spots and spills effectively without any risk of them re-appearing later.
- The envirodri® and HOST® dry carpet cleaners contain millions of tiny, absorbent sponge-like particles that contain trace amounts of water and cleaning agents to deep clean by dissolving and trapping greasy, oily dirt.
- Neither of the systems contains bleaches or acids and they do not emit any noxious fumes.
- Neither do the systems leave any chemical residues behind to attract dirt and cause rapid resoiling of the carpet fibres.
- Both the systems offer an excellent, hassle free clean and the environmental benefits of using the systems make them the ‘green’ choice.
- The carpets are left clean and dry as soon as the cleaning is finished. In fact, you can walk on the carpet, even during the cleaning process.
- Dry carpet cleaning is an extremely effective method of cleaning carpets and spillages of all descriptions, leaving carpets fresh, clean and odour free.
IAQ – Indoor Air Quality
There is ample evidence that improving the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) of your working environment will improve the effectiveness of your staff. The levels of Dust Mites and other allergens can be significantly reduced by a single use of the HOST® or envirodri® Systems.Better still, implement a carpet maintenance programme for your building with CMG' national carpet cleaning service.
For example, independent studies show that the HOST® System reduces Dust Mites by 78%; Dust Mite Allergen by 75%; Cat Allergen by 85% and Mould Spores by 85%. CMG' specialist dry carpet cleaning service will deliver all these benefits.
Many common household cleaners can emit VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) and toxic pollutants at levels that may lead to health problems. envirodri® and HOST® reduce the presence and emission of VOC’s
Both the HOST® and envirodri® are green carpet cleaning systems and help the environment in many ways; from improving the air quality, reducing VOC’s, using substantially less water in the cleaning process and avoiding premature carpet replacement; thus reducing ‘landfill’!
Green Seal® Certified
The envirodri® and HOST® systems are both certified by the Green Seal® organisation in North America. HOST® Dry Carpet Cleaner and envirodri® MicroSponges meet Green Seal’s® environmental standard for industrial cleaners based on its reduced human and aquatic toxicity and reduced airborne pollutant production.
See www.greenseal.org for more details.
Water Conservation
All dry extraction systems use significantly LESS water than any hot water extraction methods, thus conserving valuable water resources.
I.e. HOST® uses 97% less water than industry standard high-flow hot water extractors. Cleaning 50,000 square feet of carpet over its manufacturer warranted lifetime can save over 160,000 gallons of water!
Additionally, by not over wetting carpets and using dry carpet cleaning, lower energy is required. Leaving carpets damp, as with a traditional hot water extraction machines, the building’s humidifying or air conditioning systems are forced to work much harder. When air blowers (sometimes described as ‘air movers’) and portable dehumidifiers are installed to assist the drying process, even more energy is expended. These are not needed with a dry extraction system!
WoolSafe® Approved
The envirodri® and HOST® systems are both certified by the WoolSafe® Organisation, a worldwide accreditation scheme representing wool manufacturers.
WoolSafe® Approved means that the product is effective, has low resoiling characteristics, is low in alkalinity, has no bleaching agents, no optical brighteners, is non-flammable, nonhazardous, is environmentally responsible and has clear and concise use directions.
Their applicable products carry the WoolSafe® logo and envirodri® products are approved for use by one of the UK’s leading carpet manufacturers; Brintons Limited, who manufacture ‘top-end’, high quality, commercial and domestic carpets.
The HOST® Dry Extraction Cleaning System is manufactured by Racine Industries Inc. USA.
The envirodri® Carpet Care System is manufactured by Drizone Ltd. UK.
The Environment
A CMG Carpet Maintenance Programme will extend the life of your carpeting far beyond the manufacturer warranty; we currently maintain carpet in high traffic retail environments that are over 15 years old and still looking good. This not only saves money over the lifetime of the carpet avoiding premature replacement, it also saves that carpet from ending up in landfill sites. Recently many of our partners have begun to offer recycling schemes for old carpeting which ensures when a change of image is required the carpets will not end up in a hole somewhere (taking thousands of years to bio-degrade).
The company has used the HOST® Dry Extraction System from day one (some 17 years) and it was selected for its user friendliness and environmental credentials. The envirodri® System was added as one of CMG’s preferred methods because of its similarity to HOST® and as an option for those manufacturers who are aligned to it as their associated or preferred carpet cleaning system.
All other chemicals used for the cleaning of carpets are selected to ensure the least possible impact on the environment and to make sure our staff and public are at no risk whatsoever.
Whichever carpet cleaning method we are using, the first part of the works will involve the use of HOST® Liberator® machines or an initial ‘deep’ vacuuming to remove as much of the dry contamination trapped in the carpet pile. There is some evidence that improving the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) of your working environment will improve the effectiveness of your staff. The levels of Dust Mites and other allergens can be significantly reduced by a single use of either the envirodri® or HOST® systems.
Many common household cleaners can emit VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) and toxic pollutants at levels that may lead to health problems. envirodri® and HOST® reduce the presence and emission of VOC’s.
