The restoration cleaning of carpet is invariably an investigative exercise requiring some research into why the carpet has ended up in a state requiring a full restoration clean.

We will endeavour to find out to find out what the principal soiling is in the carpet,  what type of cleaning (if any) the carpet has been subjected to in the past,  and the expectation level of how far the carpet can be restored cost effectively.

The type of soiling the carpet is compacted with and the nature of the carpet fibres (whether solution or space dyed,  pile construction,  stain resistant or not, backing system etc.) will determine the system and chemicals we will use to achieve the best results.

However some coffee spills that may look similar to the sticky black mark can be nearly impossible to fully remove if the coffee was very hot when it landed on the carpet and the fibre is space dyed   This is especially true if your daily cleaner or other well meaning person has had a try or several attempts at removing it with a variety of cleaners or stain removers.

CMG are utilised by their Carpet Manufacturer Service Partners to solve seemingly intractable carpet cleaning problems,  this is our forte and we generally find a solution that satisfies all parties.

The basis for all carpet cleaning but the key element in restoration carpet cleaning is the pile lifting and vacuuming.  Most carpets are not vacuumed effectively and retain up to five times their own weight in dry gritty soil within the carpet pile.  This is removed using Host Liberators with quadruple filtration that fully remove the dry soil, groom the pile and retain all the fine dust within the machine.

Once all the dry soil has been removed then the soiling that remains and that is adhered to the carpet fibres by sticky adhesion or ionic attraction must be attended to.  The method of removing this soiling will be determined to a large extent by the nature of the soiling.  In a restaurant area or car dealership where greasy soiling may be prevalent then a cleaning agent that targets this type of soiling will be used.  For general office areas a product that targets organic soiling such as drinks and general trafficked in soiling will be used.

It is rare that we would use a hot water extraction system,  primarily a dry system such as the Host Dry Carpet Cleaning System or the Electrolytic Microfibre Bonnet cleaning System would be used.  In extreme restoration projects CMG technicians may employ all the systems in sequence addressing each level of soiling systematically,  this has been used in Logistics Company Office Areas very successfully.  This approach can restore carpeted areas that are compacted with dry wind blown soil,  compounded with oil and dirt residues from vehicles entering the warehouse and then addressing the soft drink and tea/coffee spills.

With every restoration clean it must be borne in mind that if the carpet is damaged and abraded by the lack of effective cleaning then the best CMG technicians can hope to deliver is a clean damaged carpet.  This is why Contract Maintenance Group encourage our customers to consider planned carpet maintenance,  avoiding the costly, disruptive  and time consuming aspects of restoration cleaning.

However a fully restored carpet can give many further years of good service when subsequently maintained,  ensuring a clean and healthy environment for staff and visitors.
