The drying times for carpet cleaning vary depending upon a number of factors:

  • The specific method of cleaning used (whether it is dry ‘powder’ extraction, hot water extraction, microfibre bonneting etc.)
  • The type of fibre and construction of the carpeting (i.e. wool fibre will absorb more moisture and take much longer to dry, than say, polypropylene)
  • The level of soiling and therefore the amount of cleaning products required; (not to mention the possible addition of specialist spot removers, liquids, solvents, gels or ‘traffic lane’ pre-spray cleaners)
  • Relative humidity (is it raining and damp on the day the carpets are cleaned? In which case it will take longer for them to dry)
  • Ventilation available in the area – the greater the air-flow/ventilation the quicker the fibres of the carpet will dry (in some circumstances the ‘speed’ of drying may be increased by the use of ‘force’ dryers, blowers, air movers or dehumidifiers!)

Dry carpets ready for use

Preferably CMG will use either envirodri® or HOST® (dry extraction) carpet cleaning systems, which will leave the carpets dry and ready for immediate use.

Microfibre ‘Bonnet’ cleaning will require around 15 to 20 minutes drying time before the carpets can be used, this can be reduced to immediate use when dry bonnets are used immediately after the cleaning process.

Hot water extraction may take anytime from one hour if the carpets are ‘force’ dried with air movers (blowers), through to many hours in an enclosed, poorly ventilated area.

CMG will always use the most appropriate system/s for the carpet and the client’s access requirement.
