A prominent Health & Leisure Spa had fully refitted their swimming pool and spa area with Travertine,  the stone had been honed to a 70 diamond grit  finish to enhance the grip in the wet.  The in-house cleaning team had used a rotary machine with black and green floor pads to clean the floor,  over time this had abraded the honed profile and made the stone surface flat and smooth causing a slip hazard.

No Skidding Products were selected by the Spa’ Management to restore the wet slip resistance of the stone without compromising the appearance of the stone.  No Skidding Industrial Treatment was used throughout the complex,  the works being carried out overnight to avoid any closure or inconvenience to staff and guests.  The treatment was a success,  the floor was safe in the wet and looked the same as before the treatment had taken place.

We advised the use of No Skidding Antislip Cleaners for the daily cleaning regime in order to combat the build up of contaminants such as massage oils, soaps and body fats on the surface of the stone.  Such contaminants would in time compromise the effectiveness of the No Skidding Treatment.  However the maintenance staff decided that would continue to use their current cleaning products as they felt they were adequate.

A couple of months after the antislip treatment was completed CMG had a call for the Spa to say that they felt the floor was becoming slippery again,  their conclusion was that the anti-slip treatment was wearing off.  We explained that this was not possible and that it had to be related to the cleaning regime,  Julian Stoneman from CMG attended site and cleaned a couple of the Travertine slabs with No Skidding OnGuard Electrolytic Cleaner/Degreaser.  The result was that the slip resistance in the wet was fully restored along with the Spa’ faith in the No Skidding Treatment.

The Spa now uses No Skidding antislip cleaning products throughout the complex as they have found it to be the most cost effective way of keeping floors clean and safe.
